A woman, aged in her 20s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a hit-and-run, police said.

Emergency services were called to Crabtree Road in Egham, Surrey, at about 02:30 BST, said Surrey Police.

Officers said they were already in the area after being called to a car meet near Vicarage Road and were now searching for the driver.

"There is a significant police presence in the area around the Thorpe Industrial Estate while we carry out initial enquiries," the force said.

It asked anyone with information that could help the investigation to get in touch.

A dispersal order has been put in place for the whole Runnymede borough until 02:15 on Monday.

It allows police to order groups of people to leave the area if they are committing, or are likely to commit, a criminal offence.
