Pedestrian injured after collision in town centre

Road closures remain in place

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving two vehicles outside a pub.

Avon and Somerset Police said that two other people were also injured in the incident at around 12:00 GMT outside the Perkin Warbeck pub on East Street in Taunton.

In a statement, police said that: "One pedestrian has sustained serious injuries and has been conveyed to hospital by paramedics. At this time we understand two other people have sustained minor injuries."

"Road closures are in place at this time and we'd please ask people avoid the area if possible."

It is not known how long the closures will remain in place or the condition of the injured pedestrian.

Traffic is reported to be badly affected in the area.
