A man has been charged with the murder of a 23-year-old.

Police and paramedics were called to an address on Allerton Close in Hartlepool shortly before 11:00 GMT on Sunday, where Mohammed Shaan Ali Rasul, also known as Shaan, was found dead.

Callum Howe, 22, of Blakelock Gardens, Hartlepool, earlier faced Teesside Magistrates' Court charged with murder.

In a tribute released by police, Mr Rasul's sister said: "Our beloved brother Shaan we can't imagine the pain you suffered and can't believe you are no longer here."

She added: "You had the biggest heart a man could ever have, but our hearts are broken and heavy. We will love you forever."

Mr Howe was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on 27 November.

Police said a 23-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder over the death, had been bailed with conditions "while inquiries continue".
