An 18-year-old has been arrested after two men were badly hurt close to where a large "car meet" was being held.

Lancashire Police said an Audi A3 and a Vauxhall Astra crashed at 21:00 BST on Friday in Lytham St Annes Way, Blackpool.

The force said the Vauxhall driver suffered life-changing injuries, while his passenger suffered a serious leg injury. The driver of the Audi was not badly hurt.

Police said the man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving was from Blackpool.

Sgt Bex Price said: "Two men have sustained some very serious injuries and my thoughts are with them at this time."

She added: "We are aware that a large number of vehicles were present at a car meet at the location and would appeal to those people to come forward."

Police have also appealed for any CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage.
