Graham Head, 68, has been jailed for 18 years after posing as an Uber driver to attack women

A "dangerous sexual predator" who kidnapped and sexually assaulted women while posing as a fake Uber driver has been jailed for 18 years for a second time.

Graham Head, 68, carried a "rape kit" in his car, wore latex gloves and made sure his phone was on flight mode while roaming the streets of Brighton and Hove looking for victims.

Head, of Pevensey, East Sussex, was found guilty of assault by penetration, kidnapping and attempted rape for a second time in June after his first convictions in 2023 were overturned on appeal.

On Friday Head was jailed for 18 years with an additional five years to serve on extended licence – the same sentence as he was originally given.

'Malevolently tricked'

One of his victims died in December 2024 shortly after Head's previous sentence was quashed.

In a statement released through Sussex Police, the victim's mother said: "[My daughter's] sense of safety and her confidence in the goodness of the world was completely and permanently shattered the night that you [Head] so malevolently tricked her into the back seat of [his] car.

"[He] robbed my gorgeous girl of the bright and promising future that she had been building."

A trial at Lewes Crown Court heard that Head approached two vulnerable women in August and November 2022 while carrying a business card with a picture of a car similar to his and the words "N-UBER" above it.

When he was stopped in Preston Circus in November 2022, Head was found with latex gloves, Viagra, condoms and a balaclava in his silver Mercedes.

Earlier that night, Head had told his 25-year-old victim he was an Uber driver at the end of his shift and offered her a free ride home.

Once in the car he tried to rape her, but she was able to kick him off and escape before giving a partial number plate to emergency services.

A 19-year-old woman also reported that she had been attacked in August 2022 after being picked up in central Brighton.

After being taken to a park in the city, she texted a friend at 04:15 BST saying: "I'm being raped."

Rebecca Millardship from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Graham Head is a dangerous sexual predator, who poses a real danger to young women.

"Today's sentence ensures that Head will not be able to hurt any other young women. We hope that this sentence brings some small comfort to everyone involved in the case."

Head was also indefinitely added to the sex offenders register and barred from working with vulnerable adults and children.
