Rail passengers in the West Midlands are being warned of a day of disruption due to a signalling fault.

Transport for Wales (TfW) services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International and West Midlands Railway trains between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street are affected, National Rail said.

It added trains running between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or reduced.

The issues, caused by a problem with the signalling system between Shifnal and Codsall, are expected to last until the end of the day.

West Midlands Railway said rail replacement buses were on standby in Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.

National Rail said TfW and West Midlands Railway customers could use existing tickets on selected alternative routes, external.
