Teen arrested after hoax machete stabbing calls

A teenager has been arrested after hoax 999 calls claimed a man had been seen with a machete and another had been stabbed.

Suffolk Police was called at 03:50 GMT to Argyll Court in Haverhill following multiple calls from a member of the public reporting the incident.

Police units as well as paramedics and the fire service attended and conducted a search, but found no trace of any suspect or injured person.

A short time later a 19-year-old man from Haverhill was arrested on suspicion of wasting police time and he was taken into custody for questioning.
