Fly-tipper caught making nine trips to dump waste
- Published
A woman has been caught on CCTV dumping a fridge, mattress, bed frame and other items on private land.
The woman can be seen making nine trips in one evening to dump the range of goods on land at Withybrook Drive, Malinslee, Telford.
It happened on the evening of 7 August. Telford & Wrekin Council has released the footage in a bid to identify her.
Cllr Richard Overton called the behaviour inexcusable and said the council was determined to stamp out fly-tipping. He added the council would prosecute if it had the evidence.
During the 2023/2024 financial year, Telford and Wrekin Council issued 180 fixed penalty notices in relation to fly-tipping, with 4,312 incidents reported to the authority between 2021 and 2023.
Residents had multiple ways of getting rid of waste, including kerbside bin collections, household recycling centres, and pre-booked waste collections, Mr Overton added.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
