A former teacher has received a lifetime ban after being convicted of sexually assaulting two females, including one under the age of 13.

A misconduct panel found Paramjit Clare did not appear to have shown remorse following his conviction at Warwick Crown Court in July 2022.

The 57-year-old continued to insist he did not commit the offences, despite the fact he pleaded guilty before a judge.

Supply agency Just Teachers Limited, which employed Clare in Warwickshire, insisted all appropriate checks were conducted.

In July 2022, he admitted one count of sexually assaulting a female and another offence of sexual assault of a female child under 13.

The separate incidents took place in February 2020, including one when he was employed at a school.

Clare was given a suspended 15-month prison sentence and 100 hours of unpaid work, which he has now completed.

He was also required to remain on the sex offenders register for ten years.

'Lack of remorse'

A decision, external by the panel said Clare's conduct fell "significantly short of the standards expected of the profession" and he was no longer suitable to teach.

"The panel noted Mr Clare's submissions failed to account for the impact on his victims," it said.

"The lack of insight and remorse means that there is some risk of the repetition of this behaviour and this puts at risk the future wellbeing of pupils."

Clare said he had no intention to work with children again but submitted he did not commit the offences and he had "never been a risk to anyone".

He has a right to appeal against the decision within 28 days.

Just Teachers Limited said it had carried out all required vetting checks in line with government guidance.

"We treat the safeguarding of children with the utmost seriousness and fully support the outcome reached by the Teaching Regulation Agency panel," a statement read.
