Firefighters freed a deer that got its neck tangled in the netting of a football goal.
A crew was called to the pitch in Alexander Lane in Shenfield at 09:23 BST.
A passerby had noticed the entanglement.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Luckily, our team were on hand to tackle the situation, carefully freeing the deer so it could make a quick run up the wing back to safety."
