A man has died after he was hit by a lorry while walking in the early hours of the morning.

The 63-year-old man was hit by a white Iveco lorry in Stocksbridge at about 00:11 GMT on Saturday and was immediately pronounced dead, South Yorkshire Police said.

The lorry driver remained at the scene and is supporting police with their investigations, the force added.

Police appealed for anyone who saw the crash at the junction of Manchester Road and Johnson Street to get in touch.
