A man has been jailed for three years and nine months for stealing a luxury car during a test drive, and threatening the owner with an imitation gun.
Winchester Crown Court was told that Callum Foster, of Chippenham, met the victim in Bath on 19 May and, after trying the Jaguar XF, said he wanted to buy it.
Foster suggested they drive together to Devizes to collect the cash, but instead took the victim to Salisbury Plain, where he threatened him with what appeared to be a gun.
He then dumped the victim at Bradford-on-Avon train station and stole the car.
Foster was arrested at Leigh Delamere services on the M4 the following day, Wiltshire Police said.
He was jailed at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday after admitting robbery and driving a vehicle without a licence or insurance.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Toni Nugent said: "Through trusting a stranger, the victim was taken advantage of.
"Many police units and departments worked together to ensure this case came to court, where Foster pleaded guilty to all offences.
"I hope this sentence brings some reassurance to the victim."
As well as his jail term, Foster was ordered to pay a surcharge of £228.
