A 19-year-old man charged with throwing a corrosive substance over a teenage boy has been released on bail.

Bert Baker, of Wootton Road in St Annes, Brislington, was released on conditional bail following a hearing at Bristol Magistrates' Court earlier and is due to appear at Bristol Crown Court in September.

He is charged with having a corrosive substance in a public place and throwing a corrosive fluid with intent to burn or maim, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment after the alleged attack on Monday and has since been discharged, police added.
