A man in his 60s has sustained potentially life-changing injuries after being hit by a van in Castlederg, County Tyrone.

The incident was reported to police shortly after 15:10 GMT on Friday.

Police said the report was that the man had been "deliberately struck" by a black van at the junction between Millbrook Gardens and Killeter Road.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, but was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
