A road where nearly 80 people have been injured in five years will see new speed limits introduced.
National Highways is putting new measures in place on the A46 between Bath and Junction 18 of the M4 in the coming weeks, in a joint effort with police.
Data collected in the five years to 2021 identified 41 incidents on the stretch of road, with 79 casualties and two deaths.
Bosses said a number of new speed limits would be enforced to improve safety.
The scheme will see the following limits introduced:
Speed limit reduced to 50mph (80km/h) south of M4 J18 to Pennsylvania Village
Speed limit reduced to 30mph (48km/h) through Pennsylvania Village
Speed limit reduced to 40mph (64km/h) south of Pennsylvania to Upper Swainswick, where it returns to 50mph
National Highways said a speed reduction order had been initiated and the installation of new signage would take place in the coming weeks.
Resurfacing and road marking work was expected to take place later in the year, it added.
