Islanders are being warned about an email address being used to pretend to be Guernsey's income department, the States of Guernsey has said.
The States said it had become aware of the email income@gov.gg and said it was "not a legitimate" government email.
It said: "Unfortunately these types of phishing emails are becoming increasingly common and it can sometimes be difficult to determine if an email is legitimate or not.
"As such, if islanders receive an email claiming to be from the States but they are suspicious of it, we are happy to offer advice on it."
The States said islanders could forward suspicious emails to its Information Security department - infosec@gov.gg - and someone would be able check and advise if it was legitimate or not.
It said people should not click on any links or emails unless they were confident they were from a legitimate or known source.
