Pair struck and hurt by police vehicle

A woman has been seriously injured after she and another pedestrian were hit by a police vehicle responding to a call in Greater Manchester.
The 57-year-old was being treated in hospital while a 58-year-old man suffered minor injuries when they were struck on Wigan Road in Leigh just after 21:00 BST on Friday.
The police officer driving the vehicle is supporting an investigation launched into the incident, Greater Manchester Police said.
It was also referred to the force's professional standards directorate.
Officers have also appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
