Cyclist has life-threatening injuries after crash

A 78-year-old cyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after he was involved in a crash with a trailer in Mirfield on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at just before 10:40 BST on Huddersfield Road at the junction with The Clough.

The bicycle was being ridden towards Mirfield town centre when the cyclist collided with the trailer, which was attached to a Ford Transit and parked at the time.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, said West Yorkshire Police.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers from the roads policing unit are investigating this incident and would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage."
