A number of beach huts have been damaged by a landslip at a popular tourist hot spot.

The cliff fell onto the huts near Durley Chine in Bournemouth, Dorset, on Wednesday.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council said it had come after "recent heavy rainfall" and the area has now been cordoned off for an inspection.

Richard Herrett, the authority's lead on leisure, said the landslide had affected a "small number" of beach huts.

“We have informed the licensees of the beach huts and will be staying in touch with them once further assessment has been carried out and the site is deemed secure," he added.

The area will be checked by the council’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management team.
