Five people have been arrested after a man was knocked down and killed by a pick-up truck.

Lancashire Police said a man in his 50s was hit near the junction of York Street and Burnley Road in Crawshawbooth just after 22:00 BST on Friday.

An 18-year-old Rawtenstall man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Two 19-year-old men and a 14-year-old boy from Waterfoot, and an 18-year-old Bacup man, were held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while impaired through drink or drugs.

Sgt Bex Price, from Lancashire Police's road policing unit, said: "This collision has resulted in a man losing his life, and first and foremost my thoughts remain with his loved ones at this devastating time."

She appealed for anyone who had CCTV, mobile phone or doorbell footage "which captured anything which could assist the investigation team" to contact police.
