A gas company has said supplies have been restored to most of the 300 properties which had experienced an outage due to a fault on Tuesday afternoon.

SGN said that engineers had been back to Winnersh, Berkshire, earlier "reconnecting gas supplies and upgrading some existing pipework in Reading Road".

The firm said that "fewer than 30 properties" are now without supply, but it hoped to be able to reconnect them to gas supplies by the end of the day.

The fault has affected properties across 14 streets.

SGN said that the outstanding properties where supplies of gas are yet to be restored include those where "we have not been able to gain access".

The firm thanked clients for their "continued patience and understanding" and appealed for people to rearrange appointments with engineers if they had been out when the company visited their home.
