The future of a "much-loved" children's play centre has been secured after being taken over by a school trust, a council has said.
Sycamore Adventure Centre in Dudley was run by the town council, but concerns about its future were raised in September when it said it aimed to find a new provider.
Dudley Council announced on Friday that Dudley Academies Trust would take over the site after a successful bid with plans to expand school break programmes.
The decision followed a "thorough and competitive process", said councillor Wayne Little, who described the play centre as a "cherished community anchor" in the town.
He said the trust, which runs six schools in the borough, offered a "long-term proposal" that would support reinvestment into the centre.
The play centre opened 15 years ago and works on a donation-only basis with a suggested price of £2 in the week and £4 during school holidays.
The trust plans to hold inclusive sessions for children with special educational needs and disabilities along with free clubs for vulnerable groups.
Its chief executive officer, Jo Higgins, said the trust aimed to make the centre a "safe, inclusive, and vibrant community hub" where everyone felt welcome and valued.
"We aim to empower residents, schools, and families to help shape the centre's future," she said.
Ms Higgins added that the trust wanted to grow the services and offer essential support, activities, and opportunities for the community.
"We recognise the importance of protecting and expanding resources for vulnerable groups, including children with special educational needs and disabilities, and will strive to deliver programmes that enrich their lives.
