Temporary traffic lights and a reduced speed limit have come into force while work on Southampton's Itchen Bridge takes place.

The city council said the route would remain fully open during peak times but traffic lights will be in place between 09:30 and 15:00 on weekdays.

A temporary 20mph speed limit will also be in force throughout the works, which began on 11 August and are scheduled to finish in February 2026.

Overnight closures for vehicles run from 20:00 to 06:00 on weekdays.

The project includes drainage upgrades, joint repairs, waterproofing, resurfacing and new road markings.

In January, councillors confirmed they were exploring ways to carry out the work without a full closure of the bridge.
