Drivers are being warned to expect delays as National Highways closes a section of the A417 for two full weekends to carry out essential drainage work.

The road will be shut between the A46 Brockworth junction and the Air Balloon roundabout from 23:00 GMT on 21 February to 06:00 GMT on 24 February.

It will then be closed again from 23:00 GMT on 7 March to 06:00 GMT on 10 March.

The closures are part of the £460m A417 Missing Link project, which aims to ease congestion on the key route between Gloucester and Cirencester.

'Carefully planned'

Missing Link project director Steve Foxley said he understood the closures were "frustrating" but added the scheme is "carefully planned" to "limit any inconvenience as much as possible".

Fully signed diversion routes, approved by Gloucestershire County Council, will be in place during the closures.

Residents with permits and emergency services will continue to have access during the closures.
