Voters will get the chance to quiz Alderney States candidates in a "speed dating" style event before next week's general election.

There are nine candidates vying for five seats in the Alderney States ahead of the general election on Saturday 16 November.

At a "speed hustings" event on Tuesday 12 November, candidates will give a one-minute introduction before being given 10 minutes to answer questions at a randomly assigned table.

The States president will then ring a bell before candidates move to the next table to answer questions from voters.

President William Tate said the event aimed to replicate the speed dating format, giving people "a real sense of what each candidate offers".

People attending the event at the Island Hall were asked to arrive between 18:45-19:00 GMT.
