Man stabbed during town centre 'altercation'

A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed during an altercation in Ossett.

Officers were called to Towngate at about 13:17 GMT on Sunday following a report of an incident involving two men near to the Post Office, West Yorkshire Police said.

Emergency services attended the scene and found the victim, a man in his 40s, with a stab injury to his side.

A police spokesperson said he was taken to hospital for treatment where his injuries were said to be "non life-threatening".

The force said the suspect, described as a man in his 50s, had left the scene, but that a man had since been arrested in connection with the incident
