Police said residents living in flats near a canal where a man was found fatally injured may be able to assist a murder investigation.
Officers were called to a canal footpath behind Auctioneers Court, Northampton, at about 06:30 BST on Friday after East Midlands Ambulance Service found the injured man in his 50s on a bench.
Northamptonshire Police has now appealed to those living in nearby apartments overlooking the River Nene.
Det Insp Torie Harrison said: "Anyone from these residences, or anywhere else nearby, who may have camera footage or any other information, is urged to contact police as soon as possible. "

The man in his 50s was found on a bench on Friday morning
On Saturday a forensic post mortem examination was due to take place at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester to establish the man's cause of death.
There will be an increased police presence in the area as part of an effort to reassure those living in the neighbourhood.
Ms Harrison added: "Officers have been in the area today carrying out house-to-house enquiries and have spoken with a number of people.
"However, we are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward and we're particularly keen to locate any CCTV or other camera footage of the nearby area.
"Any information, no matter how small, can help us piece together exactly what happened."
