Life of fisherwoman documented in new film

The life of a Jersey fisherwoman is the focus of a new documentary film.
'She Fishes' was shot on location in Jersey over two weeks and follows Gabby Mason as she and her fiancée Leyton Hunnisett catch fish and sell them through their mobile fish van.
Born in Jersey, the film is Sabine Gilley's directorial debut since graduating from Bournemouth University.
She said the documentary, which is in post production, will be shown at film festivals before having a screening in Jersey before the end of the year.
As a child Ms Gilley spent time on the boat of her fisherman grandfather and said she was keen to highlight how the industry is integral to the island and its heritage.
"It's such an important story to tell" she said.
"I wanted to highlight that through my filmmaking and I met Gabby through her selling fish up at St Ouen.
"I wanted to hear what she had to say about the fishing industry and her own journey as well."
The documentary, supported by ArtHouse Jersey, was shot over two weeks in May and June.
The synopsis describes the film as following Ms Mason as she "balances the struggles and passions of being a small scale sustainable fisherwoman in a male dominated industry".
Ms Mason said: "I think it shows some of the difficulties that we all face and some of the positives we all have across the industry.
"Then also a much deeper dive into the intricacies and quirkiness of our business so hopefully it will be interesting for people to see".
She added that she was blown away by the director's passion and professionalism for the project.
"It was just amazing to see another woman really striving forward and bringing people with her to not just make a difference for her life but others too."
