A murder investigation has begun after a man was fatally stabbed in Camden, north London.

Police were called to Camden Gardens at 15:29 BST on Saturday following reports of a stabbing.

A 44-year-old man was treated at the scene by officers and paramedics before being taken to hospital, where he later died.

Police said no arrests had been made, but there was not believed to be any threat to the wider public.

Cdr Jason Sewart said: "My team are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to this man's tragic death in Camden Gardens.

"Our thoughts remain with the victim's family and friends at this very difficult time. They continue to be supported by specialist officers."

He said a crime scene remained in place and residents could expect to see extra patrols in the area.
