A bridge that was closed for nearly five hours has now reopened.

Suffolk Police were called to Orwell Bridge on the A14 in Ipswich at about 11:40 GMT to reports of concern for the safety of a woman.

The bridge was closed between, external junction 58, Seven Hills, and junction 56, Wherstead, before the closure was extended from junction 55 at the Copdock interchange to junction 57 at Nacton.

After police resources were deployed, the incident was resolved at about 16:25 GMT.

Both directions of the A14 have now reopened and police thanked motorists for their patience and understanding.
