Ipswich's Orwell Bridge reopens to traffic following Storm Isha

The Orwell Bridge, in Ipswich, has reopened in both directions from junctions 56 to 57 on the A14

The A14 Orwell Bridge has reopened after it was closed due to expected high and strong winds from Storm Isha.

The Met Office issued a Yellow weather warning for Suffolk and forecasted wind gusts of 55mph (88km/h).

National Highways, external said it closed the bridge as part of "safety preparations" but as of 06:30 GMT it was fully reopen in both directions.

They said that there were "no significant" delays in the area.

During the closure, the A14 has been shut between junction 55 at Copdock Mill and junction 58 at Levington, with motorists diverted along the A1214, A1189 and A1156 through Ipswich town centre.
