Afternoon ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and Lancashire have been cancelled due to strong winds over the Irish Sea.

While the Manxman set off for Heysham at 08:15 BST, its afternoon return was cancelled.

The vessel is now due to set sail overnight, returning to Douglas Harbour on Saturday morning.

However, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has also warned of possible disruption to sailings of the Manxman and fast craft Manannan throughout the weekend.

Ronaldsway Met Office said gusts of up to 60mph (97km/h) are expected to hit the island on Saturday.

Ferry crossings between the island and Lancashire had already faced disruption due to tidal conditions in Heysham this week.
