Plans for a £21m development on the site of a Surrey town car park are set to take another step forward.

A development including shops and new homes is planned on the Fairground car park, in Wey Hill, Haslemere.

At least 20 houses are earmarked on the site in the council's long-term plan.

Waverley Borough Council said the new development would be commercially viable and attractive to potential development partners.

Plans include the relocation of a youth club currently on the site.

Estimates include £3m to be spent on that, £10m on housing and £8m on retail space.

The council's executive will approve the next steps of the plans, external, with the full £21m budget still subject to approval by full council.

The executive will meet on Tuesday to discuss the proposal.
