One man has been arrested and the driver of another vehicle is being sought after a crash that saw two people taken to hospital.

Cleveland Police said four vehicles were involved in a collision on the A19 northbound Mandale interchange near Middlesbrough at about 13:00 BST on Tuesday.

A woman and an 11-year-old girl travelling in one of the cars were taken to hospital as a precaution, a force spokesman said.

A 38-year-old man from a van was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs and officers are trying to trace a fifth vehicle they believe "made off from the scene".

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the crash to contact them.
