The conversion of a former pub into multiple new homes has been given the go ahead.

Cordage 20 Ltd have been given approval to turn the Sir Audley Arms pub on Audley Road, in Chippenham, into two four-bedroom homes and one two-bedroom dwelling.

The property was once owned by Admiral Taverns.

A decision on the plans, which includes the construction of an additional four-bedroom home alongside the development, was delayed by Wiltshire Council to allow a bat survey to be carried out.

The latest case officer reported there was a "likely absence of roosting bats".

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the plans were approved by town councillors, despite the "regrettable" loss of the venue, which closed in 2023.

As part of the plans, the pub's existing outbuilding and single-storey extension would be demolished, with parking spaces introduced.

In their application, Cordage 20 Ltd said the pub was "not a viable business" and there was "no substantial interested by public house operators or community groups".
