A leisure centre is to close for a major overhaul which will give it a new 25m six-lane pool.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council said the project at Brough Park Leisure Centre in Leek will see leisure facilities in the town transformed.

Plans also include an additional teaching pool, new changing facilities, an extended gym, a second exercise studio and a dedicated indoor cycling studio.

The scheme is part of a wider £17m Levelling Up project in the town.

Councillor Matt Swindlehurst said the improvements would make a huge difference and encourage people to be more active.

The council has yet to reveal the dates when facilities will be closed, but said it expected work to begin in the autumn.
