A man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a fire station and other properties across Kent, police have said.

Firefighters' belongings were stolen from Sheppey fire station in Sheerness just after 20:00 GMT on Sunday.

Crews were responding to a call at the time, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.

Kent Police said a 45-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody.

The man is also suspected of two burglaries and an attempted burglary in Whitstable on 19 January, plus a a further break-in at a house in Minster-on-Sea on Monday.
