Second man dies after van crashes into lorry

A second person has died after a van crashed into a stationary lorry on the A2 in Kent.

The crash happened on the coastbound carriageway near Cobham, at about 16:15 BST on 31 May.

The driver of the van, a 50-year-old man, died at the scene.

A 20-year-old man, who was a passenger in the van, was seriously injured and has since died, Kent Police said.

The next of kin for both victims have been informed.

Kent Police said two lorries were parked on the hard shoulder of the A2, when for unknown reasons, a white Mercedes Sprinter van crashed into one of them.

The driver of the lorry suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Officers from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are renewing their appeal for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
