Police investigating a man's shooting have released CCTV footage of a group dressed in dark clothing riding bikes in the area at the time.

A man in his 30s suffered a leg injury in a targeted attack in Ormonde Crescent, Kirkby, at about 21:00 BST on Saturday, Merseyside Police said.

Six bikes are shown on CCTV riding dangerously along Simonswood Lane at the junction of Westhead Lane minutes before the shooting.

Det Ch Insp Phil Atkinson appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

'Check cameras'

He said the bikes were being ridden "in convoy, dangerously and on the wrong side of the road on Saturday evening".

“I want to know where these bikes came from and where they went afterwards," he said, adding: "I would ask anyone living in the area who has a doorbell camera or CCTV or anyone who was driving in their area and has a dashcam to check their cameras to check if they captured anything significant."

Police said there was a mixture of electric bikes and electric motorbikes.

Det Ch Insp Atkinson urged those who knew who the riders were or where the bikes were being stored to come forward.

“Keeping your community and your family safe remains our priority so please tell us what you know and help us to help you,” he added.
