Strong attendance at show despite 'tough' times

More than 117,000 people visited the Royal Cornwall Show this year, organisers have said.
Show secretary Chris Riddle said 117,447 visitors to the three-day show at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre near Wadebridge was a "strong" attendance at a time that was "tough" for many households.
He thanked the visitors, traders and competitors along with the organisers, judges and contractors that worked on the show.
The 2025 show dates have been confirmed as 5, 6 and 7 June.
Mr Riddle said: "We are all too aware of how tough it has been for many households over the last couple of years, so to still see the show being supported by local people in this way is tremendous.
"I know it means a lot to the traders at the show and the families that compete here."
The 2024 show was Mr Riddle's last year as show secretary after 35 years in the role.
To mark the achievement, he and his wife Thelma were given a guard of honour by more than 100 stewards and staff members and the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Col Sir Edward Bolitho read aloud a letter written by the Duke of Cornwall.
