The incident occurred at around 16:30 GMT on Thursday 11 January in the subway to Worcester Foregate Street railway station.

Another man is said to have used the pole of an umbrella handle to stab several times at the victim's face before he eventually managed to get away.

The suspect has been described as white and aged between 30 and 40 years old.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket with white insignia, black jogging bottoms and black trainers, British Transport Police said.
