Man arrested on suspicion of rape in town centre

Police investigating the rape of a woman who was walking through a town centre have arrested a man.
The victim was near to the Vine Hotel on Salter Street, Stafford, when she was seriously sexually assaulted at about 20:00 BST on Sunday 21 April, Staffordshire Police said.
A 33-year-old man from Stafford has been questioned on suspicion of rape and released on conditional bail.
The woman is continuing to receive specialist support, and detectives are asking anyone with information about what happened on that evening to call 101.
