An investigation into a suspected arson has been launched by police after a fire in a derelict pub in Sittingbourne.

The blaze happened in a kitchen at the former Kemsley Arms pub in Ridham Avenue, Kemsley, on Sunday at about 17.30 GMT.

Five fire engines plus a height vehicle responded and crews extinguished the fire, which was on the first floor, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.

Kent Police, which also attended, said it was treating the fire as suspicious and wanted to speak to anyone who might have information.

No injuries have been reported.
