A horse has been rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out in an industrial unit.

Crews from Malmesbury and Chippenham were called shortly after 03:30 BST this morning to reports of a fire on an industrial site on the B4040 between Malmesbury and Easton Grey.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby business and horse stables.

One horse was led to safety as a precaution, they added.

The fire affected one unit, with pictures from the scene showing a small building destroyed by fire and what appeared to be a burnt-out minivan.

Crews used four sets of breathing apparatus and four hose reels to extinguish the fire, bringing it under control.

Firefighters are still on the scene and are expected to remain there for several more hours dampening down.
