Car park closes for town centre regeneration
- Published
A car park has closed for three months as part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of a town centre.
The Gap site car park on Raven Meadows in Shrewsbury shut on Monday while ground investigations for the new Smithfield Riverside development are carried out, the council said.
The car park is being used as site accommodation for the surveying company.
The Riverside Shopping Centre is to be replaced with a park, restaurants and other facilities with demolition work starting last month.
The scheme is being financed by almost £19m of government funding, which Shropshire Council secured in 2023.
