Fresh closures for £5m bridge project

A fresh round of footpath closures has been announced for a 99-year-old bridge in Grimsby.
Corporation Road Bridge has been closed to traffic since February 2023 as it undergoes a £5m restoration.
North East Lincolnshire Council said progress was being made on the repairs, with rotten timbers replaced and insulation work completed.
Six days of footpath closures were required this month for the safety of the public and contractors during the next phase of work, the council added.
The paths will be closed between 09:00 and 16:00 BST on the following dates:
Wednesday 3 July
Wednesday 10 July
Thursday 11 July
Wednesday 17 July
Wednesday 24 July
Thursday 25 July
The painting of the bridge was "ongoing", along with repairs to the control room, the council said.
Corroded steelwork was due to be replaced and work on a new roof would "commence soon".
The authority thanked the public for their patience.
