Fowey has been named Destination of the Year for visiting cruise liners, beating off competition from Dubai and Tourism Kingston, in Canada, harbour bosses in Cornwall say.
A spokesperson for Fowey Harbour, announcing the win at the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2024 on Facebook, external, said staff were "absolutely thrilled" at the honour.
They added: "Fowey’s community-centered approach has been recognised by the judges and the amazing selection of excursion destinations that our small port can offer."
An award was presented to port cruise manager Kate O'Hara on Wednesday night in Malaga.
The spokesperson continued: "This award celebrates how we have worked together as local businesses and a community to enhance the cruise passenger experience and promote all that Fowey and the surrounding area has to offer.
"Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the project and although the cruise season has drawn to a close for 2024, this award will really put Fowey on the map for future cruise calls."
