Man dies of injuries after being hit by lorry

A man has died after being hit by a lorry in Leicestershire.

Police said the pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck on the A5199, near Wigston, just before 06:30 GMT on Friday.

The force said the man, 22, died as a result of his injuries on Monday.

A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the collision on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

He was later released under investigation, the force said.

Anyone with information about the collision, which happened between Kilby and the River Sence, has been asked to contact police.
