Oasis dedicate song to 'Gallagher Hill' crowds

A fence was installed which blocked the view for people without tickets at Heaton Park

Oasis dedicated a song to the hundreds of ticketless Oasis fans who turned up to Heaton Park to listen to the band's penultimate Manchester concert.

A fence was installed last week around the grassy area dubbed as "Gallagher Hill", after many spectators gathered on the slope to watch the gigs on screens.

Manchester City Council had urged ticketless fans to not attend, saying "you won't be able to see the show" as the fence blocked the view, but crowds still turned out on Saturday.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher dedicated a performance of their song Bring It On Down to those on the mound.

The council previously said the site had been fenced off to protect livestock and recently planted trees.

At Saturday's performance, Gallagher also referenced the recent scandal at a Coldplay concert where a stadium camera highlighted a man and woman hugging before they ducked out of view.

"We don't do that...round here," he said.

Greater Manchester Police said Oasis's gig on Saturday "concluded without any major incidents", but the force arrested 14 people on suspicion of fraud, assault and drink driving.

The Mancunian band's final concert in the city is due to be held later, before they head to London to perform at Wembley Stadium as part of their international reunion tour.
