Man dead and one missing after boat crash

Searches are being carried out for a man who is missing after the boat crash

One man has died, another is missing and a third has been taken to hospital after a boat crash.

Police, coastguard teams and ambulance crews were called to the edge of Portsmouth Harbour in Tipner, Hampshire, after the private rigid hulled inflatable boat - an inflatable boat with a hard bottom - crashed on Thursday at about 20:00 BST.

Police said a man in his 60s, from Emsworth, died the scene while a man in his 60s, from Portsmouth, was still missing with searches ongoing.

A man in his 50s, from West Sussex, was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said officers were liaising with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch during the early stages of an investigation to establish what had happened.
